Meanwhile right hero back yard. Scott Skiles no longer the head coach of the -- Milwaukee Bucks. You've got a new head coach Jim Boylan. And like I said before they're gonna count -- opposites when you talk about personalities to talk more about the voice of the Milwaukee Bucks at Davis now joins -- -- and I don't want -- well -- -- you. I'd you woke up this morning and I didn't realize that that this has taken place you called me and said -- give me some of the details but. Let's just talk about the inner workings. Of this now it. I guess the timing of it is there a reason for the timing. -- I think there was a sense that and and those of us who are around the team on a daily basis. In particular in the last week or so I really -- Scott had become. The taxed or disconnected. From the process of trying to. Make this team better and I can't tell you why because I can't get inside of the Scott had but you know they had that big win over Miami. One of the best -- of the year and they drop the next night and they somewhat lay an egg against the Pistons they've. Had a chance to come back and win that game late but. I don't know maybe that was the point where Skiles. I just thought I'm done with this team I don't know but I have been spent the last. Week that he was kind of going through the motions and and Natalia moment that really kind of caught my it was against the Rockets this past Friday night. The Bucs have a good first half they were up eighteen they were -- couple -- -- at the half they come out at the beginning of the third quarter when nobody had a bad second half but. In the first minute of the third quarter they had three turnovers three turnovers in a minute and you could tell there was. A lack of focus right at the start that -- well Skiles didn't do anything he didn't call time out he would make any substitute. And all of a sudden I believe it was like -- it ended up being in nineteen to two run. Bottle Rockets and I don't think he called a timeout until the run was between the 217. To do -- -- in that range. Where it finally stood up and called a timeout and I remember sitting watching that game -- -- why wait so long to kind of changed. -- -- -- here and at that moment -- went well. He has is he's saying. I can't do anything what this -- -- you guys figure it out and and I I might think it is that. If we picked up on that. The player certainly were picking up on that -- because they have very good antenna. And then the next night against Indiana -- thought they had a very listless and unfocused performance against the Indiana Pacers. And after that game you you got the sense that it was time to do something and and I I kind of thought something will be done on Sunday. I was surprised I didn't hear -- thing out but something will be done on Monday I was surprised I didn't hear anything yesterday and of course we know that last night -- made the decision to part ways. I guess my next question is with Jim -- taken over is this a interview the rest this season is this an interview for Jim Boylan -- do you think they will definitely go outside of the organization. Well I think the chants urging him to show what he can do if the team plays well if they make the playoffs if they win the division which I still think as possible. You know tonight if you get a win over Phoenix and Miami win at Indiana which is very possible the Bucs are only going to be two games off the division lead with 49 games. -- I mean anything's possible so if Boylan. Get this team to play better they respond to him I certainly think you'll have a chance. To keep the job at the end of the year I think the unknown right now all. He is whether or not it will be John Hammond. Picking the next coach sport next season. Because -- at the end of his contract. Or will there be a new GL medal he go a different direction based upon the guys that you might have. On his short -- so I think those are some of the unknown but we have going forward. And Ted maybe I've just train myself to be cynical but his. The break up here as an amicable. As both sides are are really really implying that it is the mean both -- have gone. Gone out of their way to say how much they respect each other how much did the time is meant to them and it's been great is it really that. -- Well it's never totally -- -- -- when you have to fire someone you've got to -- or someone and there are some issues involved there and I'm sure Kyle has his opinions on on what happened here and haven't -- and Herb Kohl has -- doesn't. Anytime you have to do something like that there's going to be some tension involved and I don't think everybody is. Is gonna say that we should have a big campfire and build some more and I think combined I don't think there's anything like that but. And I think Kyle would tell you that maybe it was time for a change I think he's one of those guys who believes that. An NBA coach has a certain shelf life. In this league and it's probably around five years and he's been here five years and so I think that may have been working into his thinking and -- probably want -- as clean as it appears but I don't think it's terribly acrimonious either. -- Wanna come back because today you know -- Wolfowitz said that you know -- cleaned out his office and there was a big report that he was looking more for a buyout and come back and coached his team again. That he really wanna come back and coach the -- again this year -- one did you know the organization well right. You know again I can't get inside got -- but my opinion was that he didn't wanna come back at the end of last year and although he's and I have felt that he was not going to be back next year no matter -- -- to whether or not. It was the -- deciding to not bring him back or the -- -- he's got we want you back I think you -- said no again I I think he's one of those guys that field that. There's an internal clock that a coach has with a team. Where the players will respond to him. And listen to what he has to say and it's probably about five years and those aisles looking at five years and playing well -- that's it I'm done here in. You know whatever happens it at all I'll go to my next job or whatever but I I do think that that was factoring into what was going on with -- and I think he had already decided that he wasn't coming back next year no matter what. The next question is about -- him that you would mention you know he's you know coming into -- contract is well. Do the Bucs want him back in your opinion because I -- you and I both know we've talked both on and off here there has been. Times it that he has done a lot of good as far as gathering talent. And you know -- -- that look they are never brought a guy and that Scott Skiles didn't warrant. But I thought he did a pretty good job and unloading a lot of contracts causing some -- flexibility. With the Milwaukee Bucks getting this team -- -- you know roster wise together it's not the best roster but it's certainly better than what it was awhile ago. Do you think he's -- at the end of the year your opinion. I don't know what it's hard to get in the -- of her skull too because he's very he he doesn't. He doesn't say what he's gonna do much he's. He's internal with that and so. Reading him -- -- is difficult to do I agree with you not think in many areas John Hammond has done a nice job. And I would like to see him have a chance to move -- at least for a couple of years. With another coach coming in here and different directions in that regard whether or not that will happen I don't -- -- I think John's done a good job of acquiring some talent that has gotten better I think Larry Sanders has gotten better. But it was -- the -- has gotten better I think John Henson was an interesting pick up I think he will continue to do. Improve I -- the Bogut trade because spoke it's still not playing in. He still -- health issues and you're gonna have to deal with that here anyway and so you you make that move laboring at Monta Ellis is certainly is a good. High quality NBA player. The thing that that stands out about this team is that the people you rely on. On a night to night basis to school work. Are very inconsistent with their shooting Jennings LS Ilyasova Mike Dunleavy to a certain extent they're very up and down what they're shooting and as -- John Hammond alt well I guess if you if you feel that way that you -- point that direction but it's also up to the players. To try to get better and be more consistent so if I had my choice if they ask me. I would laboring John -- back I'm a little bit biased because. John Hammond is one of the nicest men I have ever met I can tell you stories about things that he has done. A ways that he has reached out to people within the organization when things have been happening to them that no other general manager I have ever been around. Would do. He has played fine human being and I think he's a good basketball man and I hope at the end of this season that the team has played better. That they've made the playoffs that they made a run at this division and it all of those things happen and -- this thing turned in a positive direction. But I think there's a very good chance that John -- will be back. The other question all of this is the rumors are out there that there is some owners. Sniffing around as if they wanna -- the Milwaukee blocks in. That maybe this team to be sold as soon as this season or maybe even next season now. -- -- where does that put all of this in your opinion. Well I don't get percent to -- is ready to sell. You know he's just let the senate he -- that for a long time that he's not one of these guys to. Want to go sit down in Florida in the sun he wants to have something to do. And I think right now in that regard the team is more important -- -- there has been in the last few years it's always been important to them but I think it's even more so now. That he's out of the senate he's back here in Wisconsin he's going to be around more -- a year from now will he feel differently maybe. But there are always people sniffing around teams trying to buy them if they think that the owner is getting close to selling so. I would say that today -- is no different than a year ago. -- two years ago and today is no different than it might be six months to a year from now where people probably who have an interest in this are constantly checking with her. And finding out where he has in terms of his intent to remain as the owner of this team but the the -- I get today. Is that -- he's not close to selling he doesn't wanna sell right now and -- -- future at least. This year I think he's gonna continue forward. On the on the court with this you know removal or firing or -- leaving whatever you wanna call it of Scott Skiles. If you said the players were picking up on his attitude or his his thought process about wanting to get out of Milwaukee. -- is a completely different personality Tuesday. Then do you think there's like this resurgence of exuberance of -- enthusiasm and maybe we see more consistency out of this team I guess that's maybe you know thinking with Rose -- colored glasses on. But you see a difference in this team coming. You hope so and usually when you make a -- a coaching change there is that. -- where there's a refocused. There's a renewal intensity and purpose among the players and the coaching staff. And how long that lasts you know sometimes it's short lived. Doesn't last for a long time and the team revert back to what they were when that the coach got fired. But sometimes you can catch a spark -- you can take off and -- a different. -- in the locker room but different direction. Each individual player now refocused about what's going on. You know good things can happen at any -- -- hear -- thing about. We have fifty games to play you know this game -- played 32 games there are fifty games let the play. -- there's plenty of time in this season to do some good things and again. I think the central division is absolutely wide open at the moment the Bucs -- three games behind the Indiana Pacers they are kind of in the loss column. But again -- -- what they have a good game tonight you win. Miami win at Indiana suddenly you wake up tomorrow you're only two games back in the standings won -- in the loss column with 49 games to play. With a renewed focus renewed energy. A commitment to the purpose by everybody on that team I don't see any reason given good health. Why this team can't compete for this division going forward for the rest of the year and I hope that begins tonight. Had good stuff look forward to call is always in a wheelchair again soon and thanks corrected them -- -- all of us that aren't -- thank you don't. -- populated -- and that it is Ted Davis the voice of the Milwaukee Bucks.
